Mika Surprenant is a Portuguese-Canadian filmmaker born and raised in Montreal. He worked as a freelance camera assistant in Prague in early 2023 and spent the following year in Tokyo, studying at Waseda University 早稲田大学 and working as a freelance camera assistant.

He completed a BFA in Film Production at Concordia University in April 2025. He has been part of a mentorship with Canadian cinematographer André Turpin since late 2024.

He specializes in direction of photography with a focus on fiction and developed a strong interest in color grading and producing during university.

His personal work was presented at the Concordia Film Festival in 2023 and his photography was part of the Concordia Photo Collective.

In 2025, he's preparing to apply for Talent en Vue 2026 first feature as a DoP and continues collaborating with directors in his community to bring ideas to screen.
